What a rap video prompt has to say

A rap video prompt is the text an image-to-video tool reads next to your photo. It says who is in the shot, where they are, how they rap, what the beat sounds like and how the camera moves. The tool can only make what the photo and the prompt give it, so a vague prompt gets a vague video: a face that drifts, a beat that doesn't fit, cuts nobody asked for.

The prompts below follow the same order every time, because that order keeps each part from fighting the others. Each one says what it suits and what to try if it goes wrong. Swap [your topic] for your own words. Results vary with the tool and the photo, so treat a prompt as a starting point and change one part at a time.

On RapYourPhoto you don't need a prompt at all: every scene has its own built in, and you only add your photos and, if you like, a topic.

The prompt formula

  1. 1Who: point at the photo

Write "the person in the photo, same face, hair and clothes" instead of describing their looks. A written description of a face invites the tool to draw a different one.

  2. 2Where: one place, by its light

Name one place and the two or three things that make it: "a recording booth with grey foam walls and a desk lamp" says more than "a cool studio".

  3. 3The performance

Say that they rap to the camera with clear lip sync, and give one gesture. With two people, say who raps first and who answers.

  4. 4The sound

Name the beat style and a tempo, the language of the rap and what it is about. A topic works better than a full verse: ten seconds holds two or three short lines.

  5. 5The camera

One move for the whole clip, such as a slow push-in, a sideways track or a fixed shot. Three moves in ten seconds look like random jumps.

  6. 6Length, shape and what must not appear

10 or 15 seconds, vertical 9:16 for phones or landscape 16:9 for wide screens, and a closing line that rules out text, captions and logos.

8 AI rap video prompts to copy

Each prompt is written for one photo (solo) or two (duet). Copy it, replace [your topic], and paste it next to your photo in an image-to-video tool that makes sound.

Studio booth take

Solo, one photo · 10 seconds · 9:16

Use the person in the photo exactly as they look: same face, hair and clothes. They stand in a small recording booth with grey acoustic foam on the walls, over-ear headphones on, a studio microphone and pop filter in front of them. Warm desk lamp light from the left, dark control room glass behind. They rap straight into the mic with clear lip sync, one hand pressing a headphone to their ear, nodding to a laid-back boom bap beat at about 90 BPM. The rap is in English, about [your topic]. Camera: slow push-in from chest height to a close-up. 10 seconds, vertical 9:16. No text, captions or logos on screen.

Best for:
A first video, a birthday shout-out, anything where the words matter most.
If it goes wrong:
If the headphones change the hair or cover the face, write "headphones around the neck" instead.

Arena headliner

Solo, one photo · 15 seconds · 9:16

The person in the photo, unchanged, headlines an arena show. They stand at the front of a big stage with a wireless mic, white spotlights cutting through haze behind them and a crowd below holding phone lights up. They rap with big energy and clear lip sync, pointing at the crowd on the hook. Hard trap beat with heavy 808s at about 140 BPM, the crowd cheering under the music. The rap is in English, about [your topic]. Camera: low angle from the crowd, slowly rising. 15 seconds, vertical 9:16. No text, captions or logos on screen.

Best for:
A win, a graduation, a hype video for a team.
If it goes wrong:
If the crowd pulls focus, add "crowd out of focus, the rapper sharp in the center of the frame".
Try the Main stage scene

Underground battle

Duet, two photos · 15 seconds · 16:9

The two people from the two photos, each exactly as they look, face each other in an underground car park, a ring of people around them and one bare light overhead. The first person raps first, leaning in, while the second listens and shakes their head; then the second person answers. Clear lip sync for whoever is rapping, the other's mouth closed. Boom bap beat with hard drums at about 95 BPM, the crowd reacting after each line. The rap is in English, a playful battle about [your topic]. Camera: handheld, circling slowly around the pair. 15 seconds, landscape 16:9. No text, captions or logos on screen.

Best for:
Friendly rivalries: siblings, coworkers, fans of two teams.
If it goes wrong:
If both mouths move at once, split the clip: "first half, the first person raps; second half, the second person answers".

Rooftop after midnight

Solo, one photo · 10 seconds · 9:16

The person in the photo, same face and outfit, on a city rooftop after midnight, skyline lights blurred behind them, a low brick wall and a small speaker at their feet. They rap to the camera in a relaxed way, one hand moving with the rhythm, with clear lip sync. Lo-fi beat with soft keys at about 85 BPM. The rap is in English, about [your topic]. Camera: slow sideways track, the skyline sliding past behind them. 10 seconds, vertical 9:16. No text, captions or logos on screen.

Best for:
Thoughtful topics: a move, a new job, a year looking back.
If it goes wrong:
If the face goes too dark, add "their face lit by a warm lamp on the wall beside them".

Front seat freestyle

Solo, one photo · 10 seconds · 9:16

The person in the photo, unchanged, sits in the driver's seat of a parked car at dusk, the phone camera on the dashboard facing them. Street lights slide across the windscreen. They rap along to the beat with clear lip sync, bouncing in the seat, one hand drumming on the steering wheel. West Coast beat with a rolling bassline at about 95 BPM, a little muffled like a car stereo. The rap is in English, about [your topic]. Camera: fixed on the dashboard, a slight shake from the bass. 10 seconds, vertical 9:16. No text, captions or logos on screen.

Best for:
Road trips, a new car, the drive to work.
If it goes wrong:
If the car looks like it is driving with nobody watching the road, write "parked car, engine running, not moving".

House party hype

Solo, one photo · 15 seconds · 9:16

The person in the photo, exactly as they look, in the middle of a living room party: disco ball light spinning across the walls, confetti falling, friends cheering and dancing behind them. They rap to the camera with a big smile and clear lip sync, throwing one hand up on the hook. Upbeat party rap with handclaps at about 110 BPM. The rap is in English, a celebration of [your topic]. Camera: handheld, pushing in and out with the beat. 15 seconds, vertical 9:16. No text, banners or logos on screen.

Best for:
Birthdays, anniversaries, a friend's big news.
If it goes wrong:
If the guests' faces come out strange, keep them soft: "friends blurred in the background".
Try the House party scene

Platinum parents

Duet, two photos · 15 seconds · 9:16

The two people from the photos, a mom and a dad, with the same faces, now dressed like rap stars: heavy gold chains, oversized sunglasses, a jacket with a fur collar. They stand side by side in a living room lit like a music video, in purple and gold light. They take turns rapping a proud, funny verse to the camera with clear lip sync, the other nodding along. Classic boom bap beat at about 92 BPM. The rap is in English, about [your topic]. Camera: slow push-in, ending on both of them. 15 seconds, vertical 9:16. No text, captions or logos on screen.

Best for:
Anniversaries, Mother's Day and Father's Day, the family group chat.
If it goes wrong:
If the new outfits change their faces too, add "only the clothes change; faces stay exactly as in the photos".

Orange backdrop duet

Duet, two photos · 10 seconds · 9:16

The two people from the photos, each unchanged, in front of a plain orange backdrop, one vintage microphone hanging on a cable from above at mouth height. Flat, bright light like a small studio set. The first person raps into the hanging mic with clear lip sync while the second dances loosely beside them, then they swap places. Bouncy beat with a funky bassline at about 100 BPM. The rap is in English, about [your topic]. Camera: fixed front shot, waist up, no cuts. 10 seconds, vertical 9:16. No text, captions or logos on screen.

Best for:
Two friends, a couple or a duo who want the bright, simple look.
If it goes wrong:
If the swap looks messy in 10 seconds, drop it and keep one rapper at the mic for the whole clip.

Six mistakes that spoil a rap video prompt

  1. 1Describing the face

"A man with short brown hair and a beard" gives the tool room to draw a new face. Point at the photo instead and say the face stays the same.

  2. 2Asking for a famous rapper

A real artist's voice, face or song isn't yours to copy, and many tools refuse the prompt. Describe the sound instead: the beat, the tempo, the energy.

  3. 3A full verse in ten seconds

Ten seconds holds two or three short lines. Long lyrics come out rushed or garbled, so give the topic and at most one line you want to hear.

  4. 4Three camera moves at once

"Zoom in, then pan, then cut to the crowd" in ten seconds looks like random jumps. Pick one move and keep it for the whole clip.

  5. 5Two people with no turns

In a duet, if the prompt doesn't say who raps when, both mouths can move at once. Say who raps first and who answers.

  6. 6Asking for text on screen

Names and captions drawn by a video tool often come out misspelled. Leave them out of the prompt and add text in an editor afterwards.

Weak prompt vs better prompt

Weak: A guy rapping in a studio

Better: The person in the photo, same face and clothes, raps into a studio mic in a booth with grey foam walls

Weak: A cool beat

Better: Boom bap beat with crisp drums at about 90 BPM

Weak: Make it cinematic

Better: Warm lamp light from the left, dark glass behind, slow push-in to a close-up

Weak: Rap about my friend

Better: The rap is in English, about Sam finally passing the driving test

Weak: Two people rapping

Better: The first person raps, then the second answers; clear lip sync for whoever is rapping

Weak: Put his name in big letters

Better: No text, captions or logos on screen (add the name later in an editor)

Rap video prompt FAQ

The text an image-to-video tool reads with your photo. It says who is in the shot, where they are, how they rap, what the beat sounds like, how the camera moves, and how long and what shape the clip is.

No. Every scene has its prompt built in. You pick a scene, add one or two photos and, if you like, a topic of up to 240 characters, and the button shows the credit cost before you start. The step-by-step guide walks through it.

About 60 to 120 words: a sentence each for who, where, the performance, the sound and the camera, then the length, the shape and what must not appear. Longer prompts tend to contradict themselves.

Keep it to the topic and one short line. Ten seconds holds two or three short lines, and long lyrics come out rushed. On RapYourPhoto you give a topic and the lyrics are written for it, in English or German.

Don't. A real artist's voice, face or song isn't yours to copy, and many tools refuse it. Describe the sound instead: the beat style, the tempo and the energy. On RapYourPhoto, photos of celebrities and public figures aren't allowed either.

Vertical 9:16. Pick landscape 16:9 for YouTube videos and wide screens. On RapYourPhoto the shape doesn't change what a video costs.

Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account and saves nothing. Making a video on RapYourPhoto takes credits, from 40 credits a video.
